Why I might say no
My goal is to deliver you an instrument we can both be proud of
If I’m not confident I can do it, and I can’t find a third party that can I won’t do it
Stylistic or artistic elements that don’t interest me; I have to live a breathe your instrument for months, and If I don’t feel it, it will show in my work
I won’t use junk parts. Cheap is good, but quality is key
How it Works
Reach out with your idea
Use the contact form
Tell me what kind of instrument you are interested in (bass, guitar, baritone, 7 string, tenor, other)
Which of my body styles are you interested in (I will not build other builders designs)
Your ideas for finish, electronics, or other special requests
If you have a tight budget let me know, I will help select components that meet my standards for quality at the best price.
Dialog
I will reach out to you for additional details and develop a concept drawing, and parts list for your approval
I will then generate a quote, which will include a total price and a deposit. The deposit will be used to purchase supplies for the build
We will also agree on a spec sheet, containing preferences like neck thickness, nut width, tone cap values, others. I will work with you if your not sure what you want.
Lead time
I will let you know when I can begin work on your instrument, and provide a conservative time estimate (4 month minimum).
I am a one man shop part time shop, and life and a day job may get in the way
My goal will be to under promise and over deliver.
The type of finish you select will have the largest impact on the build time (satin oil based poly i fastest)
